The City of Eastvale is a general law city with a five-member legislative body. Each of the five City Councilmembers are directly elected by the registered voters of their district. The positions of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are ceremonial in nature and not directly elected. The City Council selects the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem amongst themselves and the positions typically serve a calendar year.
The next general municipal election for the City of Eastvale will be held on November 5, 2024, for two Council seats – Districts 2 and 5. Districts 1, 3, and 4 will be voted upon in 2026. The nomination period for the 2024 election is July 15, 2024 - August 9, 2024. If an incumbent does not file by August 9, the filing period shall be extended five days and will close on August 14, 2024, for all interested persons other than the incumbent for that seat only. Nomination papers may be issued and filed during this time pursuant to the Elections Code. An appointment to issue or file nomination papers with the City Clerk may be made at this time by contacting the City Clerk at cityclerk@eastvaleca.gov.
