Smoke Advisory

Post Date:05/14/2019 3:12 PM

A large hay fire is currently burning at a dairy farm in Chino in the 8300 block of Pine Ave. The fire is contained, but is expected to burn for the next several days. Currently, the fire is producing heavy smoke, which is leading to elevated PM2.5 concentrations throughout the Inland Empire. As of early Wednesday afternoon, smoke has begun to impact monitors in Mira Loma, Riverside, and to a lesser extent, Temecula, and Banning. Winds around the fire are expected to be moderate from the southwest until at least tomorrow night. Smoke impacts are predicted to continue throughout the Inland Empire.

Overall, meteorological conditions may bring smoke and ash into portions of Riverside County and San Bernardino County. Air quality may reach Unhealthy levels or higher in areas directly impacted by smoke.

Areas of direct impacts and unhealthful air quality may include portions of:

• Riverside County: Corona-Norco (Area 22), Metropolitan Riverside County (Area 23), Perris Valley (Area 24)

• San Bernardino County: Northwest San Bernardino Valley (Area 32), Southwest San Bernardino Valley (Area 33), Central San Bernardino Valley (Area 34), East San Bernardino Valley (Area 35)

In any area impacted by smoke: If you smell smoke or see ash due to a wildfire, limit your exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed or seeking alternate shelter, and avoiding vigorous physical activity.
