On May 8, 2013 the City Council adopted Eastvale's first Strategic Plan.
The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to provide the City with a guiding document setting priorities for the next five years. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) defines Strategic Planning as: “a process in which a community or organization can look at its current situation and compare that situation to where it would like to be within a certain period of time. Communities can use strategic planning to envision their future and take the appropriate steps to achieve that future.”
Strategic Planning involves several components such as: a realistic assessment of available resources, constraints and opportunities; the formation of a clear mission and a shared vision; the development of realistic and achievable goals; the development of project action plans to reach these goals; and clearly established indicators or metrics to measure the success and outcome.
The Strategic Plan will serve as a “blueprint” for the City on where to go, what to do and how to get there - successfully.
“The mission of Eastvale is to provide exceptional customer service to its citizens and businesses and to continue to attract new businesses to invest and locate in order to build a strong, stable community with an excellent quality of life, superior public safety, and a vital business community.”
Through the public input process and discussions with City Council members and community stakeholders, the following goals have been identified:
- Establish a solid fiscal foundation for the City
- Optimize the City's economic development potential
- Maintain an excellent level of public safety
- Provide high quality public facilities and infrastructure
For each of these goals, the strategic plan identifies a number of specific objectives and action steps to achieve the objectives. The action plan includes assignment of organizational responsibilities, a time frame to implement the actions, and a budget. Finally, the plan identifies performance measures the City can use to measure its progress in achieving the goals.
