Alternating lane closures are scheduled nightly on northbound and southbound I-15 from Sunday, April 15 to Friday, April 20. At least two lanes in each direction will remain open at all times.
- Northbound lane closures will take place nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. between the Santa Ana River and Bellegrave Avenue.
- Southbound lane closures will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road and the Santa Ana River.
Lane closures are needed for crews to restripe lanes and set up k-rail along the median. The newly striped lanes will shift traffic toward the outside shoulder to allow extra room for crews to work in the median. The new lane striping is expected to be in place starting Tuesday morning, April 17.
Pictured below, crews repair and repaint k-rail at the contractor’s yard to prepare the sections for installation.
Crews will continue to work extended hours on the southbound I-15 soundwall between El Cerrito Road and Cajalco Road, from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, April 20, excluding Sunday night, April 15. Crews are working extended hours to accelerate construction.

A weekly series to explain common construction terms.
CIDH: Cast-in-Drilled-Hole concrete piles are vertical concrete columns that are pushed into the ground under a foundation. In the 15 Express Lanes project, CIDH piles are used to create the support structure for soundwalls. While there are many piling techniques, CIDH piles are more environmentally sensitive and offer reduced noise levels.
